Second language learning is the focus of a vibrant interdisciplinary community of researchers who investigate topics with important impacts on our lives as language users and language learners. This course covers these current theoretical approaches to the research of second language learning and teaching. Through careful review of recent scholarship, reflection on personal experiences in language learning, and course writing/discussion activities, students who take this class will be more prepared for future research on second language learning – and perhaps even more prepared for teaching and learning of additional languages in their own lives.
